The Italian Air Force's first of four delayed Boeing KC-767A tankers has been delivered to the Pratica di Mare air base near Rome.
Italian air force chief of staff Gen Giuseppe Bernardis and Boeing Italy president Rinaldo Petrignani were present at the 27th January ceremony.
Registered as MM62229, the aircraft will now go through a series of evaluations before being placed into operational service.
Deliveries were due to commence in 2005 but the aircraft have been delayed due to technical issues, including underwing hose and drogue refuelling pod buffeting problems.
The KC-767A also has a centreline hose and boom. The aircraft can carry up to 200 passengers or 19 pallets of freight or while in "combi" configuration it can be fitted with up to 100 seats and carry 10 pallets.
